A promise, kept.
Born on the course Louie loved and carried by the people he left behind, now becoming a home where North State families never face cancer alone.
He met everyone the same way: like they'd been friends for years.
Luis “Louie” Miramontes was a fixture on the fairways of Redding, the kind of man who knew your name, your kids’ names, and exactly which club you’d left in the cart. When cancer took him far too soon, it didn’t take the promise his friends made on that course: that no family here would have to walk it alone.
What began as a single memorial round has become fifteen years of showing up: for treatment costs, for the drives to Sacramento, for the families the diagnosis leaves reeling. Every year the promise grows, and every year it stays exactly where Louie would have wanted it: home.
“We don’t send the money away and hope. It stays in the North State, in the hands of the people fighting right here.”
— The Louie Foundation
A house where no family faces cancer alone.
Treatment pulls North State families hours from home, and asks them to carry the cost of a place to stay on top of everything else. The Louie House will be a warm, no-cost home away from home for families in the fight: close to care, close to community, exactly where Louie would have wanted it.
It’s the biggest promise the Foundation has ever made. We’re building it the way we’ve built everything: together, and close to home.
For fifteen years, every dollar raised has stayed within reach of the people who raised it — the North State taking care of its own.
